I do, because I love to cook, I love to read the history of food, I love the pictures, and I love the passions with which they are normally written.

I love to collect cookbooks. I have a few on my Kindle, but they are one type of book I want to hold and flip through. I have a collection of cookbooks I got from my grandmother after she died and they are treasures to me!

I love recipe books too. When you read them, the most complicated things appears to be easier since they are explained.
When you're not a great cook, you appreciate the tricks those books give you to improve your skills.
I love making cakes, biscuits and even sushi.
Restaurants seam very expensive compared with what you can do with a book and some ingredients.

Carla, you should have known my wife. She had stacks and bookcases full of recipe books and was a fantastic cook. In the waiting room at the doctors office she would go through the magazines in the waiting room and tear out recipes. She's in that Big Kitchen in the Sky now, probably cooking up something for the angels.

:) I understand...really...my husband died in 2010 (leukemia)...we both loved to cook...and eat! I like to go through the magazines at the library and xerox the particularly interesting recipes.

I lost my wife in 2009 and I wish her culinary talents had rubbed off on me. But they didnt. I never got much past the peanut butter sandwich and TV dinner stage.

If you like reading recipe or cooking books try reading some of Alton Browns books. I really enjoy the information he produces.

I do not like to read recipe books but I do like to read cook books, when I think recipe books i'm thinking lists of ingredients and that's boring to me.

Yes. I do love to read recipe books. I like to experiment and try new food items. Hence read a lot of the recipe books of different chefs around the world.

I can't get enough of them. The only problem is I hardly ever follow recipes exactly as written, I always seems to add or remove stuff. Good thing is, it mostly comes out good. Not always, but mostly :)
