The last book I read was a short story prequel to Jodi Picoult's upcoming Small Great Things. The book was Shine and it was so depicting and such a teaser for the new novel, even if it was only 42 pages, I rate it 4/4.

Rescue me by Vesper Vaughn rating: 4 out of 5 stars. The ending could have been better but it was a good romance novel.

The Door into Summer by Robert Heinlein, published in 1968, was basically a reasonable time travel idea poorly executed.

The writing style is flippant, the second half of the book is rushed and trite, too many events are fortuitously coincidental, the plot is full of serious holes and stupid ideas (like emerging back in 1970 into a nudist colony), and the science is unconvincing and poorly explained.

There are dumb side stories about Dan's cat, Petronius, and his relationship with a little girl, Ricky, that are given too much oxygen and are just silly romantic notions that detract from the narrative.

It's easy to read and not without some humour, but it has serious flaws that make it very unsatisfying and not even close to quality science fiction writing.

2.5 stars out of 5.

Just finished the last installment (6 books total) of the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. Book: City of Heavenly Fire. Although I was wish I could have an extension of the book... maybe and epilogue to the epilogue haha but it ended happy and that makes me happy.

Last book that I read was Prince and the Pauper. I gave it 2/5 rating. I couldn't really get into the book. It was already outside my comfort zone and I just wanted to try to read it because it was a classic. I've read other classics that I've loved this one was just not for me!

Hello! I'm an avid reader and new author here and still learning my way around. I just finished reading Friedrich Nietzsche's Twilight of the Idols for about the ninth time. It's a powerful, thought-provoking book. I get something new from it every time I read it.

I recently finished Deliverance by Kristy Centeno. It was a creative form of werewolf/vampire scene, but a bit repetitive. Therefore, I have rated it a 3/4 stars.

I just finished reading The Story of a New Name by Elene Ferrante
This is the second book of her Neapolitan series and continues the stories of Lila and Elena as they grow to adulthood in a poverty stricken neighbourhood of Naples. As the two girls move through school and early adulthood their lives converge and diverge as they compete and make choices but through it all the strong bond of childhood and neighbourhood hold.
As with the first book, My Brilliant Friend, this one also has a cast of characters as diverse, colourfull, violent, unpredictable and eclectic as the back streets of Naples.
I love these book and I love Elene Ferrante's style of writing ... the book read almost as a memoir.
The third book, Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay, is already downloaded and waiting on my Kindle ... can't wait to start reading it.
I highly recommend this series and give The Story of a New Name 4/4* :handgestures-thumbupright:
